Fractured 6 days ago. Suspected Jones fracture

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Female
x-ray

There is a comminuted intra-articular fracture of the base of the metatarsal of the right fifth toe. The appearances are that of an avulsion fracture ( pseudo-Jones fracture ). The mid foot alignment is normal.

Case Discussion

The fracture is located 1 cm distal to the joint, whereas a Jones fracture is typically located at least 2 cm distal to the joint. A Jones fracture does not involve the joint.
