ill-defined smudging and stranding of the mesenteric fat, most evident around the superior mesenteric vein and its tributaries.
In the delayed images, a faint hypodense filling defect is seen within the distal end of the superior mesenteric vein (which appears relatively enlarged with ill-defined borders) and the proximal end of the portal vein.
