Shoulder pain.

Patient Data

Age: 75 years
Gender: Male

Opacity obscuring the right lung apex.

A large mass in right lung apex invading chest wall and eroding the second and third right ribs. There is an hypoattenuating center (necrosis) and surrounding enhancement. The mass also involves the right subclavian artery.    

A core-biopsy was requested.

CT guided core-biopsy. Obviously the central necrotic area was not the biopsy target, two fragments were obtained from peripheral area.

Case Discussion

The case was confirmed as a squamous cell carcinoma (non–small cell carcinoma).
