Inter-atrial septum is expanded by a low density mass (-30 HU). Findings consistent with lipomatous hypertrophy of the inter-atrial septum. This is incidental to the patient's presentation.
Case Discussion
Lipomatous hypertrophy typically spares the fossa ovalis, and lies anterior to it. Since the fossa ovalis is spared, the lipomatous hypertrophy can take on a dumb-bell appearance (on short axis images).
It is secondary to hypertrophy of preexisting fat, and may be associated with increased epicardial fat.
