Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Male
ct

Large left-sided extradural hematoma is noted crossing the suture line.

Associated midline shift.

An underlying linear temporoparietal bone fracture which traverses the coronal suture.

Case Discussion

Intracranial hemorrhage is common, a large proportion occurring following trauma.

It is one of the commonest causes for a CT to be performed out of office hours.

Extradural hematoma is a life-threatening, but entirely salvageable pathology providing prompt diagnosis and surgery is undertaken.
