Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome

Diagnosis probable

Presentation

Distension and diffuse abdominal pain.

Patient Data

Age: 20 years
Gender: Female
ultrasound

Both ovaries appear enlarged rather symmetric and have multiple variable-sized cysts. An associated ascites and pleural effusion are seen.

 

Case Discussion

The patient has an additional history of primary infertility, and the scan was performed after receiving ovarian induction therapy.

The findings in this setting are keeping with Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. The case was managed conservatively.
