Sebaceous cyst - neck

Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Swelling in left side of mandible region - 2 mths. C/o local pain - 2 wks. H/o skin redness.

Patient Data

Age: about 25 yrs
Gender: Male
ultrasound

Thick, irregularly walled collection with echoes is noted at site of swelling.  Vascularity is noted in wall.

It is superficial to platysma. 

A curvilinear reflective focus is noted within it - ? Hair follicle.

Left submandibular gland and superficial lobe of left parotid glands are normal.

No other abnormality is noted in neck.

Case Discussion

Reported as a subcutaneous abscess.

I & D - done. An 'infected' sebaceous cyst - 'leaked' cyst.
