Presentation
Pain in the shoulder not responding to hydrodilatation. Now palpable lump posteriorly
Patient Data
Non-specific solid soft tissue mass adjacent to the spine of scapula
Well-defined lytic destruction at the base of the scapular spine with a soft tissue mass involving the infraspinatus muscle belly. No matrix calcification as is often seen in chondral tumors
Realtively minor isotope accumulation in the left spine of scapula
Case Discussion
The scapula is an unusual location for chondrosarcoma. In this case there is a substantial soft tissue mass without calcification together with a reasonably well-defined, lobulated erosion of the bone.
