TFCC tear - Palmer 1d

Presentation

Right wrist pain. History of fall while hiking with right wrist fracture, status post plate and pin fixation.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Female

There is a tear of the triangular fibrocartilage complex near the radial attachment. Perforation of the scapholunate and lunotriquetral ligaments is noted. Fixation hardware is stable without evidence of complication.

Case Discussion

The tear of the of radial-most aspect of the TFC as it attaches to the articular cartilage of the distal radius is consistent with a Palmer 1D tear.
