Presentation

Anterior lateral infrapatellar knee swelling. Referred for ultrasound to rule out abscess.

Patient Data

Age: about 35 yrs.
Gender: Male
Nuclear medicine

A defect is noted in tibial cortex. Soft tissue lesion is noted protruding from tibia.

Fluid fluid levels are noted in the lesion.  Lesion shows vascularity.

It is a bone tumor extending from tibia into soft tissue.

US findings suggest a bone...

x-ray

US findings suggest a bone tumor. Radiographs were taken.

Fused growth plates.

A lytic eccentrically located lesion in in proximal tibia.

Abutting articular surface

Non-sclerotic margin.

Case Discussion

USG is done intially to rule out soft tissue abscess at the site of swelling. However, it was not an soft tissue abscess but a bone tumor as seen in plain radiograph.
