Supracondylar spur

Presentation

Fall, with elbow injury while playing football. Tenderness around the left elbow with reduced range of movement.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

On the anterior surface of the humerus is a spur of bone pointing towards the joint. Features here are of a supracondylar spur.

Case Discussion

There is no evidence of trauma. 

On the anterior surface of the distal humerus is a spur of bone oriented along the long axis of the humerus, pointing towards the joint.

Appearances here are of a supracondylar spur. The differential in this case is for an exostosis, but these tend to point away from the joint and appearances and site are typical for a supracondylar spur.
