Acute aspiration pneumonitis

Presentation

Loss of consciousness and accidentally falls into pit of organic oil. Acute respiratory failure at admission

Patient Data

Age: 18 years
Gender: Male

There are multiple alveolar infiltrates in both lungs, which become confluent posteriorly forming a consolidation with positive air bronchograms. No pleural effusion or pleural thickening. Great distension of the stomach cavity.

This case shows severe aspiration pneumonia after falling into a pool of industrial oil, the patient unfortunately died days later.
