Which artery supplies the affected territory?
The hypodense area is supplied by the left posterior cerebral artery (PCA). This is a left PCA territory infarct.
Can you describe the blood supply to this area and the PCA?
The PCA is a branch from the circle of Willis. Although there is some collateral supply from the anterior circulation, in many cases it comes from the vertebral arteries (in the posterior circulation).
What visual field deficit will this patient have?
There will be a right homonymous hemianopia. PCA insults produce contralateral visual defects as these are post-chiasm. Some cases will just have quadrantopias but this extensive stroke will affect the entire right half of his field of vision.
Hypodensity in left occipital and parietal lobes.
Sulcal effacement in this area but no midline shift.
