Presentation
History of mental illness and apparent cognitive impairment. CT was performed to rule out structural abnormalities.
Patient Data
Complete absence of the corpus callosum. Anterior and posterior commissures are also absent. Abnormally dilated 3rd ventricle, possibly due to an interhemispheric cyst (not identifiable). Note no colpocephaly. Absence of septum pellucidum. Abnormally shaped lateral ventricles which run parallel.
On the angiographic series, is an abnormal distribution of deep cerebral veins. Anterior cerebral arteries runs separately. A fetal origin of the left posterior cerebral artery is identified.
Case Discussion
The patient was referred to perform a CT scan to exclude structural abnormalities due to an apparent cognitive impairment. The patient had a history of non-specified psychiatric treatments and was present in the will of one of their relatives. Legal procedures recommended a psychiatric evaluation to determine if she had capacity to manage the assets.
