Presentation
Heart failure on echocardiography. Exclude chronic pulmonary thromboembolism.
Patient Data
Computed tomography angiogram shows no filling defect within the pulmonary arterial tree to suggest pulmonary embolism but shows a marked enlargement of main pulmonary artery measuring 3.59 cm in diameter, suggestive of pulmonary arterial hypertension. Also enlarge right ventricle compared to the left ventricle due to the raised pressure in right heart also noted. In the lung window, pulmonary fibrosis with UIP pattern type is present.
Case Discussion
Pulmonary hypertension is defined as an increase in mean pulmonary arterial pressure ≥25 mm Hg. In this case pulmonary hypertension is associated with pulmonary parenchymal fibrosis.
