Presentation
Referral for tertiary scan with ventriculomegaly at 35/40.
Patient Data
Bilateral ventriculomegaly. The right ventricle measures 16 mm, the left 13 mm. There is a 20 mm echogenic heterogenous lesion in the anterior superior cortical tissue on the ventricular wall which may represent an IVH. There is an otherwise normal appearance to the cortex, posterior fossa and corpus callosum. The CSP is present, but just distorted by the VM.
Hemosiderin lining a porencephalic cyst arising from lateral wall of the left lateral ventricle. High T1 and high T2 signal residual clot is seen within the dependent portion of the cyst. Asymmetrical ventriculomegaly - left 15 mm and right 11 mm. The third ventricle is enlarged and measures 4.7 mm.
Conclusion: Porencephalic cyst secondary to in utero grade IV intraventricular hemorrhage.
Left anterior porencephalic cyst. No blood in the left lateral ventricle and there is no new bleed.
