Spontaneous osteonecrosis of the knee

Presentation

An elderly patient presented with new onset unilateral knee pain and inability to use the joint. There is no history of trauma.

Gender: Male

This study shows a subchondral sclerotic line at the medial femoral condyles with underlying bone marrow edema that involves almost the whole condyle. There is mild effusion. Chondromalacia patellae is also seen. Degenerative changes of the medial meniscus.
