Small bowel obstruction - Meckel diverticulum

Abdominal pain and vomiting

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male

Blind ending loop arising from the distal ilium traverses anteriorly inferior to the level of iliocecal junction.

Immediately after the origin of this diverticulum, there is a transition point with upstream loop dilatation in distal small bowel.

Case Discussion

Surgeon reports 10cm Meckels diverticulum within an internal hernia through the small bowel mesentary and an adhesion band from the tip of the diverticulum obstructing the distal ilial loop.
