There is enlargement of the suprasellar cistern with remodelling of the sella and flattening of the pituitary tissue. Prominent optic nerve sheaths with flattening of the posterior globes. Ventricular size is considered to be within normal limits. The transverse sinuses appear to be of narrow calibre without definite stenosis identified. No abnormal enhancement.
The findings of an "empty" sella, distension of the optic nerve sheath and narrow calibre transverse sinuses would be in keeping with a diagnosis of idiopathic intracranial hypertension.
