Lipoma - gluteal lesion

Presentation

Left gluteal region swelling - 1 yr. No trauma. Discomfort while sitting.

Patient Data

Age: about 50 - 55 yrs
Gender: Female
x-ray

No significant bony abnormality.

ultrasound

There is lobulated lesion is seen in region of interest.

Margin                          - Well-defined 

Size                             - apprroximately 8 x 6 x 5 cm

Location                       - Within muscle.

                                   - Superficial most part of the lesion close of subcutaneous fat. 

                                   

Morphology                   - Isoechoic to adjacent subcutanoeus fat

                                    - Hypochoic to adjacent muscle

                                    - Linear incomplete internal striations present

                                    - No calcification / cystic changes.

                                    - Partly compressible.

Dopplar                         - No Flow signals     

Case Discussion

Surgical excision was done.  On gross examination by surgeon, it was intra-muscular lipoma. Histopathological examination was not done.
