Presentation
Peri-umbilical abdominal pain for about 6 months. Increased pain for last 2 days. Vomiting - 1 day.
Patient Data
There are dilated small bowel loop in lower abdomen with maximum diameter upto 35 mm. Transition is seen in right iliac fossa / right para-umbilical region. There is no bowel wall odema.
There is a tubular, aperistaltic structure in right umbilical region / right iliac fossa. Blind end is near umbilicus. The other end is direct to right iliac fossa. There is fluid with air in this structure. It appears to join small bowel.
There are multiple air fluid levels showing small bowel morphology. There is no free intra-peritoneal gas under domes of diaphragm.
Resected diverticulum.
Case Discussion
Ultrasound findings suggested small bowel obstruction possibly due to Meckel diverticulum.
Surgery revealed Meckel diverticulum as a cause of small bowel obstruction.
