Calcified pleural plaques

Presentation

Abdominal pain.

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

Extensive calcified pleural plaques are again noted. No focal consolidation, collapse or pleural effusion. Normal cardiomediastinal contour. No subdiaphragmatic free gas.

Case Discussion

Calcified pleural plaques are essentially pathognomonic for asbestos exposure (but not necessarily asbestosis).
