Fluoroscopic guided lumbar puncture

Presentation

Failed lumbar punctures on the ward.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male
Fluoroscopy

Informed consent obtained.

Patient positioned prone.

Sterile prep and drape.

1% lignocaine local anesthetic.

Under fluoroscopic guidance via posterior approach a 22G spinal needle was inserted into the L3/4 intervertebral space (second image: collimated image demonstrating spinal needle inserted into the intervertebral space; third image: Lateral image confirming needle in the spinal canal).

CSF samples obtained.

 

Needle removed and a dressing applied.

No peri procedural complications observed.
