Motor vehicle collision. Bilateral fixed pupils.

Patient Data

Age: 20 years
Gender: Female

Punctate parenchymal hemorrhages throughout the brain:

  • grey-white junction particularly at the vertex but also at the temporal lobes
  • basal ganglia
  • midbrain

Case Discussion

Widespread petechial hemorrhages in typical location for severe (grade 3) diffuse axonal injury in a patient with appropriate history and neurological findings.
