Left iliac wing fracture - Duverney fracture

Presentation

Patient lost consciousness, fell onto her left hip. Tenderness in left hip region, impaired movement of left lower extremity.

Patient Data

Age: 80 years
Gender: Female

A narrow fracture line and slight dislocation is seen on the left iliac wing. Fracture line and dislocation is clearly visible on the oblique projection.

Case Discussion

Iliac wing fractures are very uncommon, an isolated iliac wing fracture is a stable benign injury and can can be managed conservatively. Serious and potentially life-threatening associated abdominal, vascular, or neurologic injuries should be excluded.
