Arteriovenous malformation of the foot

Presentation

Severe pain and impaired mobility with necrosis of the hallux extending to the forefoot. Previous sclerosing therapy and coiling to a known congenital arteriovenous malformation.

Age: 17
Gender: Female

Arteriovenous malformation present in the left foot. There is evidence of previous coiling and venous uptake of contrast.

Case Discussion

This is a case of a congenital left foot arteriovenous malformation. There was minimal long term improvement from sclerosing therapy and coiling. Due to severe pain and deteriorating mobility, the patient eventually underwent a below knee amputation. The patient does not have any other known AVM's.
