Tuberous sclerosis

Case contributed by Thuấn Nguyễn Hoàng
Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Past history is unclear.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Female
ct

Multiple fat-density masses in the liver, kidneys, and around the superior mesenteric vessels with prominent vascularity.

Multiple sclerotic regions are also seen in the thoracic, lumbar vertebrae, pelvis and femoral neck. These regions do not involve the adjacent soft tissues.

Multicystic bilateral basal lung change is also noted.

Case Discussion

The patient has multiple angiomyolipomata in the liver, kidney and peritoneum along with sclerotic bone lesions, and pulmonary cysts suggestive of lymphangioleiomyomatosis. The combination of these findings suggests tuberous sclerosis as the unifying condition.
