Humeral head bone island

Presentation

General examination.

Patient Data

Age: 55 years
Gender: Female
x-ray

No pathology of the lung is seen. Incidental finding: an oval sclerotic focus in the left humeral head, parallels the long axis of the bone, defined border, no periosteal reaction. Old fracture of the left 3rd rib.

Case Discussion

These findings suggest bone island of the humeral head. Although if the patient has a cancer history, the differential diagnosis is an osteoblastic metastasis.
