mri

The lesion has a smooth cortical outline and a thin smooth overlying cartilaginous cap. The cortex and medulla of the bony excrescence are in continuity with the cortex and medullary cavity of the underlying bone.

Case Discussion

Cartilage capped exostosis or osteochondroma is the commonest bone neoplasm.

The plain radiography is enough to make the diagnosis.

MRI may be requested to evaluate the overlying cartilaginous cap and to rule out any malignant transformation.
