Elastofibroma dorsi

Presentation

Recently diagnosed by colonoscopy as colonic mass subjected to polypectomy and histopathology revealed adenocarcinoma for CT staging work up.

Patient Data

Age: 85 years
Gender: Female

Bilateral poorly defined soft-tissue masses with attenuation similar to that of the adjacent skeletal muscle are located in the infrascapular or subscapular region suggestive of elastofibroma dorsi. 

Incidentally noted large left thyroid lobe nodule with evidence of moderate retrosternal extension.

Mild to moderate right pleural effusion seen.

Case Discussion

The case was diagnosed by colonoscopy as adenocarcinoma colon for staging work up.

An incidentally noted bilateral poorly defined soft-tissue mass with attenuation similar to that of the adjacent skeletal muscle are located in the infrascapular or subscapular region bilaterally suggestive of elastofibroma dorsi lesions.
