Presentation

Long history of urinary infection and poor voiding control.

Patient Data

Age: 18 years old
Gender: Female

Skin-covered sacral spinal defect containing lipomatous tissue, with the neural placode-lipoma interface lying outside the spinal canal. There is enlargement of the subarachnoid space and posterior extrusion of neural elements through the defect. Associated low conus medullaris (at L4 level) and thickened filum terminale (4 mm).

Contracted urinary bladder with diffuse vesical mural thickening: neurogenic bladder.
