Presentation

Cough. Known patient from the respiratory unit.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Female

Chest radiographs

x-ray

The lungs demonstrate bilateral perihilar and upper lobe ring shadows suggestive of bronchiectasis. Likely linear atelectasis in the right upper lobe. Cardiomediastinal contours are unremarkable. No suspicious bone lesions.

Central and upper zones cylindrical to varicose bronchiectasis associated with a few centrilobular nodular opacities and areas of lung collapse. The background lungs show mild mosaic attenuation pattern. Also, imaged superior abdomen contemplates the pancreas with fatty replacement. 

Case Discussion

This patient is known from the clinics with the diagnosis of cystic fibrosis, with both the radiographs and the CT images showing typical features.
