Tuberous sclerosis - incidental finding on trauma scan

Discussion:

Tuberous sclerosis is characterized by a variety of hamartomatous lesions in various organs.

This patient has bilateral renal angiomyolipomas, which is commonly associated with tuberous sclerosis. However, a lesser recognized finding is more notable in this examination, which is the presence of numerous sclerotic lesions within the vertebral bodies, posterior elements, and pelvis. This important association can help avoid the mistake of suggested osteoblastic mestastases, particularly in this young patient.
