Presentation

Swollen hand at 2 am in the morning.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male

Right 5th carpometacarpal joint dislocation. There is a minimally displaced oblique fracture through the base of the third metacarpal. No further fractures or dislocations are identified.

Post-reduction and casting

x-ray

The right 5th carpometacarpal joint has been reduced and alignment is anatomical. Fracture at the base of the third metacarpal is unchanged in alignment.
