Bucket-handle meniscal tear

Presentation

Pain and difficulty walking since 3 years.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Male

Bucket handle tear of the medial meniscus with the fragment in notch sign, double PCL sign. Reduced volume of both horns of the medial meniscus. Horizontal oblique tear of posterior horn of lateral meniscus extending to the inferior articular surface. Mild flattening of ACL with altered signals in femoral insertion. PD hyperintense signals seen in the outer margin of lateral patellar facet articular cartilage. No subarticular erosion. Mild knee effusion.

Case Discussion

A teaching case of bucket-handle tear and it's imaging signs. These patients tend to have locked knee eventually and will need arthroscopic repair to restore mobility.
