Left side vitreous body shows abnormal signal; high signal on T1, low on T2 and intermediate on T2 fat sat. After contrast, there is a thin linear enhancement in the posterior 2/3 of the retina. Atrophied left optic nerve.
Case Discussion
Coats' disease is telangiectatic retinal vessels with leakage of lipoproteinaceous exudate, while persistent hyperplastic primary vitreous (PHPV) is usually associated with microphthalmia and a persistent canal that goes from the optic nerve to the lens.
