There is tear of gastrocnemius muscle medial head near the myotendinous junction with the Achilles tendon. There is slight retraction of the torn muscle. There is surrounding edema and fluid around the tear on the fluid-sensitive sequences.
Case Discussion
Gastrocnemius muscle medial head tear due to trauma. The tear with retraction is consistent with a grade 3 strain.
