Presentation

Direct falling down on the right knee with impaction on a sharp edge.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

There is a complete transverse displaced fracture in the body of the right patella.
Joint effusion is also noted.

There is a complete transverse displaced fracture in the body of the right patella.
Joint effusion is also noted.
The patellar and quadriceps tendons show no complete tear.

Case Discussion

The patellar fracture should be differentiated from Bipartite patella which is superolateral and well corticated.
