Presentation

Not tolerating feeds.

Patient Data

Age: Neonate
Gender: Male
x-ray

Naso / orogastric tube is curled in the upper mediastinum. The abdomen is completely gas-less and no gastic air bubble is visible.  

Fluoroscopy

Barium study with contrast introduced directly into the stomach via a gastrotomy, and demonstrate a long segment (6 vertebral body heights) of atretic esophagus. No identifiable tracheoesophageal fistula detected.  

Case Discussion

This case demonstrates a long segment of esophageal atresia in a neonate with Down syndrome.
