The lungs are mildly hyperinflated. There is interstitial and peribronchial thickening in the perihilar regions, right upper lobe and right lower lobe. Pulmonary vascularity is slightly increased. The aortic arch is likely to be on the left. The cardiac size is within normal limits. The pleural space does not show significant pleural effusion.
Multiple air filled round structures are seen in the lower mid chest projecting through the heart shadow. On the lateral film, this lesion is located just behind the sternum with continuous air column into the abdomen in keeping with herniated transverse colon. The stomach with air fluid level is normally seen in the left upper quadrant. Both hemidiaphragms are otherwise normal in contour.
