Post radiotherapy pulmonary fibrosis

Patient Data

Age: Adult
Gender: Male

CT obtained 4 years earlier demonstrates a right apical lung cancer, that went on to be treated with surgery and radiotherapy. 

Following radiotherapy

Fibrotic changes and opacities suggestive of radiation pneumonitis. The right apical lung tumor has reduced in size. 

CT 2 years later

ct

The affected region has a straight lateral edge in keeping with post-radiation fibrosis. It has become more pronounced with additional volume loss and traction bronchiectasis. The lung mass is no longer visible.

Right apical bronchogenic carcinoma treated with radiotherapy with resultant radiation pneumonitis followed by fibrosis.
