Patient Data

Age: Adult

Triangular echogenic focus extending from renal sinus to the cortex in upper pole. Extension of sinus fat echo into the cortex is seen, in the upper pole of kidney.

Case Discussion

Usually an incidental finding, junctional parenchymal defect is a common anatomic variant encountered in sonographic imaging, and may be confused with cortical scars or duplex kidney.
