A well-defined round to oval opacity in the right paratracheal region.
The right subclavian artery is arising from the arch of aorta directly posterior to the esophagus. There is round aneurysmal dilatation of right subclavian artery near its origin. The aneurysm is abutting and compressing the lateral wall of esophagus and posterior wall of trachea.
Case Discussion
Aberrant right subclavian artery is the most common aortic arch anomaly. Aneurysmal dilatation of the proximal portion of the aberrant right subclavian artery is common and referred to as Kommerell diverticulum, which appears as bulbous enlargement of the proximal subclavian artery at its origin from the aortic arch, posterior to the esophagus.
