Presentation

Right-sided renal colic. AXR to assess for a renal tract stone.

Patient Data

Age: 75 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

Saccular curvilinear density in the left paramidline position at the L3-L4 level.

It is non-osseous in nature.

Case Discussion

An abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) can often be incidentally identified on x-ray due to the curvilinear calcification of the aneurysm wall.

This was a proven infra-renal AAA on subsequent CT imaging.
