Significant dilatation of the esophagus with smooth distal narrowing and tapering (resembles bird's beak), characteristic for achalasia.
A 57 years old patient with history of dysphagia for both solids and liquids for long time.
Barium swallow was performed, which demonstrates significant dilatation of the esophagus with distal narrowing and tapering ends (bird's beak appearance), as well as contrast pooling and stasis with narrow stream to the stomach. These features are characteristic for esophageal achalasia.
