An air cleft is noted perpendicular to achilles tendon soft tissue shadow. It involves near full thickness of tendon.
No bony injury noted.

A fluid cleft with trapped air is noted at site of open injury to ankle. It involves near full thickness of tendon. Deeper most fibers are intact.
In short axis, about 50% width of the tendon is involved.
