Presentation

Pain in right ankle following trauma. Inability to bear weigh.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Male

The distal Achilles tendon is seen completely interrupted 3.5 cm above its calcaneal insertion with a 6 cm gap filled with edema signal being of heterogenous low T1 and high STIR / T2 signals. The remaining tendinous portions are seen thickened and of intermediate signal in all sequences.

Subtalar, mid-foot as well as fore-foot articulations’ mild osteoarthritic changes.
