Acromioclavicular injury - Rockwood type III

Presentation

Motorcycle accident.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Male

Elevated right clavicle above the superior border of the acromion with a coracoclavicular distance at 15 mm, less than twice normal (i.e. <25 mm).

The MRI sequences demonstrate an elevation of the right clavicle above the upper border of the acromion with a ruptured joint capsule as well as the acromioclavicular and coracoclavicular ligaments. Note edematous infiltration of the adjacent soft tissues and bone marrow of the distal clavicle. No evidence of deltoid or trapezius muscles rupture.
