Acute appendicitis

Presentation

Abdominal pain, anorexia and vomiting, clinical suspicion of appendicitis.

Patient Data

Age: 3 years
Gender: Female
X-ray

Unremarkable x-ray, no signs of obstruction or pneumoperitoneum.

Ultrasound

The appendix measures >6 mm in diameter and shows increased vascularity on color Doppler, suggestive of acute appendicitis. 

Case Discussion

Ultrasound appearances are highly suggestive of acute appendicitis.
