Acute pancreatitis

Presentation

Abdominal pain.

Patient Data

Age: 80 years
Gender: Male
ct

Interposition of the colon between the liver and right hemidiaphragm is present inferring Chilaiditi sign. 

Multiple small stones are seen in gallbladder. 

The pancreas is prominent regarding to the patient age and peripancreatic fat stranding is advised.

A 20×15 mm well defined soft tissue density mass is noted between the distal gastric lesser curvature and pancreas bogy. Small gastric GIST could be suggestive in differential list. 

A few non-enhanced simple cortical cysts are seen at both kidneys, with maximum diameters of 28 mm. 

The prostate gland is enlarged.

Degenerative changes as osteophytosis are seen at the lumbar spine.
L5 vertebra is sacralized.
Grade I spondylolisthesis of L4 on L5 is present with bilateral spondylolysis.

Case Discussion

Features are compatible with acute pancreatitis. Amylase and lipase checked for the patient and show significant elevation.
